I’m extremely sad right now! I just caught wind that rapper Heavy D passed away. Heavy D is a staple in the hip hop community and in my life. May he rest in peace.

 

R.I.P. to the Godfather of Hip Hop Gil Scott Heron

OMG! what a day I had yesterday what turned out to be a beauty day turned into a total disaster! After my breakdown, I decided to take a nap and I awoke to the sad news of one of the legendary poet and Godfather of hip-hop Gil Scott Heron had passed. I remember being a little girl my mom used to play his records and I was always interested in the meaning in his songs. That was pretty much my first lesson in American History. May the Godfather rest in peace!

R.I.P. Lena Horne

Lena Horne was the definition of class!! She was a GREAT performer,legend and and icon. Ms.Horne you will be truly missed!!

R.I.P. Guru

I know I’m mad late with my tribute but his death really upsetted me this week Gangstarr is one of my favorite Hip-Hop groups and I’m definitely sadden me to hear of Guru’s passing. He was the first person to merge my two favorite genres of music(hip-hop and jazz) and he was mothafuckin’ King of the Underground!!! I know that he is resting easy up in heaven and his legacy will live on!!!
