New Nails Did: X’s and pearls

Hey folks! I know its  been a min since I’ve did a post on my own nails did, but I haven’t had the time lately to stop and get them did. Well after having disastrous nails for a month it was time to stop by my girl’s May’s new spot and get them done. Check out my latest nails did….

 

I was originally going to put one of my archived designs on two fingers with pearls but once May drew the outline for the X’s I told her to leave it. I didn’t want the base color to get over shadowed by the design.

Speaking of the base color, I used Ricky’s NYC own Nail polish line called Mattese Elite and the color is called Consigliere. Cute right?!

YAY!! It’s my Birthday!!!

eeeeow!! Yes Today is my 25th Bornday!! I will be spending my b-day Percolating and eating massive quantities of cake!!

A the Great’s B-day wish List!

As some of you may know, my birthday month is here (on the 28th to be exact), So I also like to treat myself to awesome gifts(and receive them too lol). Here is a few things I want for my 25th B-day….

1) A Hamburger pillow. I know it sounds silly, but I have a thing for silly things and hamburgers. I could definitely use this in my life.

2) Anything Claw Money. All of my close friends know that I love me some Claw Money! She’s one of my favorite Graffiti artists and fashion designers. I’ve met this lady a few times and she’s awesome! The more Claw Money gear the better!

3) A Chipotle gift card. Lord knows I love me some Chipotle! I could eat there morning,noon & night. So to aid me in my Chipotle addiction, a Chipotle gift card would save lives.

4) Patricia Field for MCM Doctors Tote. Love MCM and I love Patricia Field. Together the two make an awesome couple! And I need them both in my life! This would be an awesome B-Day gift for me!

5) Piecebook: The Secret Drawings of Graffiti Writers by Sacha Jenkins and David (Chino) Villorente. I’m all about Graffiti! Need it, love and want more of it!

So that’s it for my B-day wish list. Hopefully I get everything on it. If not I’ll work hard on someone and see if they can get it for me. lol

Goodbye relaxer I’m rocking withTeam Natural Hair

It’s been a hot min since I did a hair post and I thought I would update you guys on what’s been going on with my hair. So the last time you guys saw me I had a asymmetrical bob with blond highlights. Which looked like this:

Well since then I had to cut my hair short again because my hair broke off something SERIOUS in the crown area of my head. That picture I will not show because its embarrassing and I don’t wanna scare people.:

One day I decided that my hair needed some more color in it and it turned out to be a freakin disaster! On top of that my hairdresser of 15yrs told me straight up that I needed to stop getting a relaxer because it was eating away at my hair! I was pretty shocked that he told me that because he is the King of relaxers and would be the first person to relaxer your hair. At first I was upset, but then I knew he was being honest me and from then on I knew what I had to do. I had two options which was do an Amber Rose or get braids. I chose the second option because I’m not that bold to shave all my hair off and I wouldn’t look right. So I hit the wonderful world of Google and found a stylist by the name of this hair salon that specializes in Natural hairstyles called Bohemian Soul. I booked my appointment and met with my stylist. At first I wanted braids but we both agreed that kinky twists would be a better look.

I freaking love my hair with a natural style! It fits me well and I’ve been getting a lot of compliments. Its going to be a long process of growing my relaxer out but my hair will get back to its healthy state.

Pro Choice and Proud!

Yes my name is A the Great and I pro choice and proud! For the past two weeks there has been talks of the government cutting funding for Planned Parenthood, WIC, Americorps and Head Start. Even right wing nut jobs are even taking a jab at Planned Parenthood by making racist anti abortion ads like this..

 

Now there are a few people who do abuse these programs but to cut funding for them? Nope I don’t see it. Now many people see abortion as murder and women should have to deal with the consequences but I don’t agree.  What I do agree with is minding your own business! No one knows the extent of woman’s personal situation as to why a she opted for abortion and at the end of the day it doesn’t concern you. And as for that stupid racist ass ad, to say that African American and Hispanic women according to these supposed “statistics” that we get the most abortions is just flat out bullshit!! Since when did my race make up of the majority of the United States?!! To those pro-lifers that say we pro-choice people have a choice to have sex, tell that to a rape victim who was FORCED to have sex and she ended up pregnant because of it. Like I said before everyone situation is different and for the government to stick their nose in anyone’s personal affairs is straight up wrong! That’s like the government telling you what you and your family should eat by trying to tax certain foods. It’s not fair ain’t it? Didn’t think so. I would also like to point out that Planned Parenthood doesn’t just do abortions, they give out Birth Control such as BC pills and condoms, Cancer screenings, HIV and STD screenings. So to try and cut funding for Planned Parenthood would be a major fail and it would endanger people who don’t have insurance to do to a doctor. If I wanted to have an abortion its my right to do so and it doesn’t nor shouldn’t concern you! Tomorrow between 1-3pm there is a protest in Downtown Manhattan so if you’re in the area and have the same beliefs as me come on down!
