New Nails did: Sakura Nail & Spa

I have been wanting to go to Sakura Nail & Spa for the longest time ever! So I finally went last Friday with my big sis as a treat for her birthday. You know I got some sick nail art, and my sister got the nail gradation calgel mani with a rosemary mint pedicure. Peep the nails.

Sakura’s atmosphere is a very calming one. You actually feel like your in a spa and the nail tech’s were super nice! I actually like this place more than I like Valley NYC. I soo recommend this place!

Keepin’ it Natural

For ten years now I have been getting my nails done, which makes me a Nail Vet. lol In those ten years I’ve had everything from acrylics to gels,from natural to fake I’ve done it! Most recently I’ve noticed that a lot of my friends are keeping it natural but their biggest hurdle is making the nail polish last. Well here some techniques when I went natural that helped my nail polish stay on as well as a new technique that will want you to stay natural!

So first up is the gel Manicure. Before it started becoming  a so called “celebrity craze” Gel mani’s have been in nail salons for the past few years.  Gel manicure is a type of manicure that uses gel to bind the synthetic fingernails to the natural nails. Gel will make your nails strong and and won’t chip your nail polish.

But when getting this make sure the gel manicure is applied right. Studies have shown that if a gel manicure has not been applied right, it will lead to potential nerve damage.

Next up is a Glue manicure. Glue manicure is another alternative to the gel. Pretty much a glue manicure is a basic mani with a layer of glue on top. I’ve had a glue mani a few times and the color has lasted me a full week and a half.

Last up is Calgel which is something I haven’t tried before and want to. Calgel from what I hear is the best alternative for natural nail growth and it comes in 80 colors so you can do some major nail damage with it. Calgel is a rubber like substance which makes it flexible and less likely to chip. The best apart about calgel is that it lasts for about 3 to 4 weeks.

If your still adamant about any of these techniques and still want stick with a basic mani, I would suggest using a really strong topcoat like Orly No chip top coat and O.P.I. top coat.

New Nails did: I’m so square

So I recently decided to give pointed tips a break and square them out. This design I’m not too crazy about but its not awful. But I am in love with this Chinchilly by Essie color I picked out. I think my next set I may go tribal with a dash of 3D.

Horrible Nails did

I have been slacking on visuals for my nails did something serious!  For that I am sorry. But there are times when I’m really not feeling the design I have chosen for you all to see. Have you ever gone into the nail spot and its been so crowded that you just pick whatever just to get the hell outta there?! Well that’s what happened to me last month. I had picked a design just for the hell of it just to turn around the next day to get something that didn’t last me a week.

Here was the first design:

I was trying to explain to the lady that I wanted dots in different sizes, but of course she didn’t understand what I was talking about. So she did this. I just went with the flow cause they were a ton of loud mouth broads in the shop and I had to break free!

With this second attempt, I was trying  to for a design I saw on Wah Nails website(Nail Feature real soon) but I should have know better than to think that the hood nail spots would try to replicate. Not only does it look bad but the rhinestones came off the next freakin’ day! I ended up scrapping  this design and just doing a plain mustard color ovals.

And just when I thought had nail trouble, I met with my bestie nails went from this:

to something that made her nails look like a cheap hooker! It was too bad I couldn’t even show it lol
